Overview

A Stanford clinician–researcher opened with a Rubik’s Cube to illustrate how fast AI has leapt from mediocre to surpassing doctors on exams and even open-ended diagnostic reasoning—often doing better on its own than with a human “in the loop.” He covered real risks (hallucinations) and mitigations (retrieval-backed tools), current rollouts like ChatEHR that summarize full charts, and a near-future of agentic systems that can take actions. Bottom line: AI won’t replace the best clinicians, but it will reshape care—freeing time from drudgery while pushing humans to focus on judgment, influence, and accountability.
