Gamma’s CEO Grant Lee shared how the team built a profitable, lean AI “visual storytelling” platform—topping $1M+ ARR per employee with lifetime negative net burn—by reinventing slides (responsive, interactive docs) and obsessively dogfooding, community feedback, and constant A/B testing. They structure equity to truly reward employees (a lesson from past exits), chose presentations over a “virtual office” after parallel prototyping, and stay ahead through a power-user “Gambassador” program and rapid experimentation. Looking ahead, Gamma 3.0’s design agent automates formatting and will plug into other agents/knowledge tools, while the product expands from decks to sites, social exports, and eventually video/audio—without the burnout culture.
